A Unique Immersive Experience
The nine-channel sound and video recording required precise technical execution to maintain the integrity of Kjartansson’s vision. By placing each performer in a separate room within a historic forty-three-room mansion, the installation creates a dynamic yet unified portrait of time and space, emphasizing connection despite physical distance.
Postcards to Marguerite: A Literary & Visual Connection
Accompanying the installation is Postcards to Marguerite, a multipart work featuring 415 postcards sent by Kjartansson over 14 months. This poetic exchange parallels the musical dialogue in The Visitors, further deepening the emotional and artistic resonance of the exhibition.
