How We Choose the Right LED Wall for Your Atlanta Event

If you have ever walked into a ballroom or concert venue and been amazed by a crystal-clear LED wall behind the stage, you know how much it elevates the experience. At Atlanta Pro AV, we have spent years testing, comparing, and investing in LED products to make sure our clients’ events look exceptional both in person and on camera.

Many of our conversations with event planners focus on refresh rates, brightness, and what really matters when choosing LED walls. Here is how we approach these questions and why we think it sets us apart.

Why Refresh Rate Matters

Not long ago, I heard someone say that most LED walls top out at 3840 Hz refresh rate and that anything higher would sacrifice brightness. The advice was to use ROE 2.6 mm panels with Brompton processing to handle genlock and camera sync.

That is not the whole story. ROE’s own BP2V2 panels run at 7680 Hz refresh rate, which has become the standard for camera-friendly events. Higher refresh rates do not kill brightness. They improve color depth and grayscale performance when you are running the wall at lower brightness, which is exactly what we do for camera-heavy shows. We typically run around 10 to 15 percent brightness to keep the stage looking natural on camera. If the refresh rate is too low, the dynamic range gets crushed and you lose those smooth gradients that make graphics look polished.

Why We Chose Nomad 2.6 mm

This is where our Nomad 2.6 mm LED product stands out. It runs at 7680 Hz refresh rate, virtually eliminating scan lines and moiré on camera. If you have ever watched a livestream and noticed wavy patterns across the LED wall, that is moiré. It is distracting and pulls attention away from the message. Nomad solves that problem.

Nomad is also built to survive the rental world. Fine-pitch LED has a reputation for being fragile, but Nomad uses Theatrixx’s proprietary TPEP (Titanium/Polymer Edge Protection) which helps prevent damage during load-in and tear-down. That means fewer spares in the truck and more confidence on show day.

Space is another reason we use Nomad. Many Atlanta ballrooms do not offer deep stages, yet clients still want a full LED wall backdrop. Nomad is curvable, which allows us to create depth and keep camera angles looking great without crowding the stage.

A Real Atlanta Story

Recently, an event planner working on a fundraising gala at the St. Regis Atlanta reached out to us. She had just wrapped a show with another vendor and was frustrated. The LED wall had flickered on camera, colors washed out once the stage lights dimmed, and the wall sat so far downstage that the stage felt cramped.

We invited her to our office to see the Nomad system in action. Once she saw how clean the image looked on camera, with no visible moiré and deep, accurate color even at low brightness, she was excited. We showed how we could curve the wall to reclaim stage space and give the gala a more open, elegant look. By the end of the visit, she said it was the solution she had been searching for.

When we delivered the setup for the gala, it performed flawlessly. Guests could see every detail clearly, and the livestream looked like a professional broadcast. The client told us afterward that the stage had never looked better.

Our Other LED Options

Nomad is our flagship solution, but we know not every event requires that level of performance. APAV maintains a full lineup of LED products to meet every budget and need:

  • Infiled 2.6 mm Indoor Panels – A reliable and cost-effective choice for corporate meetings, galas, and conferences where broadcast-grade spec is not critical.
  • 3.9 mm Outdoor Panels – Weather-rated and bright enough for festivals, outdoor activations, and sports events.
  • Theatrixx LED Totems – Freestanding LED posters perfect for sponsor loops, digital signage, and branding at entrances and lobbies.

We do not just recommend the most expensive option. We help you select the right product for the right project.

Why This Matters

Refresh rate, processing power, and panel quality might sound like technical details, but they directly affect how your event feels. Crisp images, natural skin tones, and smooth gradients keep your audience focused on your message.

When you work with us, you are not just renting gear. You are working with a team that solves these challenges before they become problems. Whether you are planning a corporate meeting, gala, product launch, or outdoor concert, we can design a solution that matches your venue, audience, and budget.
